Bringing DNC Energy Back to Texas

August 28, 2024

What an incredible time we had last week. Attending the Democratic National Convention in Chicago alongside fellow Texans like LucyAnn Sanchez Miramontez, the first Latina to ever be elected to a judicial position in McLennan County, was an experience I’ll never forget. Together, we witnessed history being made as Kamala Harris accepted the nomination for president. The energy in the room was overwhelming—Texans were united, fired up, and ready to win.

LucyAnn and I spent every day surrounded by passionate Democrats from across the nation, but it was the bond with our fellow Texans that stood out. The Texas delegation was a powerhouse. From early mornings filled with strategy sessions to late nights celebrating our progress, we never lost sight of our shared goal: winning for Texas. As LucyAnn said, “It felt like the Super Bowl every night.” And I can’t think of a better way to describe the intensity and excitement we all felt.

But now, we’re back in Texas, and it’s time to turn that enthusiasm into action. The stakes are high. Our opponent, backed by the deep pockets of the Texas Republican party and ideals of extremists, is determined to keep us from making progress on public education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. That’s why I’m counting on you to keep this momentum going. We need to match their fundraising efforts and show that everyday Texans won’t back down.

I’m back on the campaign trail this week, and I’m more determined than ever to represent our values in the Texas House. Let’s make sure the energy we felt at the DNC turns into real, lasting change for Texas.
